A Bit About Me
Why we do what we do?
At three years old, I practiced and work hard on learning to spell and write my unusually long and hard to pronounce first name D-a-w-n-y-i-e-l-l-e. Mastering it finally on a hand-cut piece of tag board while at preschool, I eagerly (and patiently) waited to share the “good news”with my teacher. After several false starts at getting her attention, she finally acknowledged me toward the end of the day rather flatly and with a “that’s nice” without even once looking at my clever penmanship or me in the eye. My three year old self reasoned, “She should know better. She has not been properly taught.” Fast forward to today….
Philosophy
First experiences from family, care givers and early educators are the foundation of a child’s development and are the building blocks of all future learning. 10 Fingers 10 Toes' approach to these early years is research-based, thoughtful and child-centered. Our goal is to develop a well-rounded child with a love for learning, themselves and others. It’s no coincidence, that since our founding in 2006, we have been the preferred childcare and preschool provider for local and surrounding county educators including Berkeley, Fauquier, Frederick, Jefferson and Loudon.
Mission Statement
10 Fingers 10 Toes’ mission is to provide an early childhood development experience that is unrivaled in every aspect of early care and early learning. Our philosophy is simple – by respecting each child as unique and worthy —we will “graduate” happy, curious and adventurous children who are confident, kind, and firm believers in their own possibilities.
From language and analytical development to social skills and creative expression, the children at 10 Fingers 10 Toes are constantly being exposed to new activities and environments in which to thrive. We build on the strengths and interests of each child to help build a solid foundation where they can experiment, discover and grow. Get in touch to learn more about us.

This is why our policies cover the gamut including disinfection and sanitizing to wellness checks, to limited access and thoroughly vetting staff trained in first aid, CPR and emergency drills.
